Should we have an Unplugged Ceremony?

Hello hello!

Ahh the age old question as to whether or not to have an unplugged ceremony.

Want to know my answer (well you're here so, ya, you want to know my answer). My answer is yes. Have an unplugged ceremony. Don't allow your guests to take photos during your ceremony. There are many reasons as to why this is the best option for everyone attending your wedding.

Here they are;

1. Your guests will be fully present

You invited your guests for a reason. And that reason was to celebrate with you, laugh with you, cry with you and eat cake with you. In order to do those things, your guests need to put their phones away. Specifically during the ceremony. Encourage your guests to be fully engaged by kindly asking (no, forcing) them to put their phones and cameras away.

2. You guests don't need these pictures That's right. I said it. Your guests absolutely do not need the pictures that they take of you at your ceremony. More likely than not, they are going to sit on their phone until that phone slowly wastes away in a landfill (dramatic, but true).

3. Your professional photos will be severely impacted

If you don't ask guests to put their phones away, they will be snapping photos the entire way through your ceremony. You know who else is doing that? Your photographer. And those professional photographs that you paid through the ying-yang for won't look so hot with Aunt Sally and Uncle Bob standing in the aisle, blocking the view of your photographer

4. It is just dang distracting

Having your guests moving around during the ceremony, sitting in the aisle, standing behind the alter, running around to catch the best angle is wildly distracting for the guests that actually are trying to pay attention to your ceremony (and distracting for those standing at the front too!).

5. Your privacy is respected

Perhaps you aren't super keen on the idea of anyone and everyone sharing photos online of your big day before you have the chance to approve them (hello me full of unflattering pictures of myself on the internets). If you ask your guests not to take photos during the ceremony, you have more control of when and who is sharing pictures of your day.

Have I convinced you do have an unplugged ceremony yet?

If I haven't, ask me some of my horror stories about guests during the ceremony, seriously, it ain't the vibe.

That's it that's all.

If you have any questions for me, leave a comment, send me an email or slide into my DMs. I am here to help.

Until next time,

Telle
